The electric propulsion system project for eight 490TEU container ships, commissioned by Indonesian shipowner PT TEMAS Tbk, was constructed by Lianyungang Wuzhou Shipping Industry Co., Ltd. and designed by Nantong Offshore Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. The propulsion system is powered by the S-Renewable series, featuring advanced systems and components. Key equipment includes the DC-Link System, main propulsion motor, main propulsion control system, main transformer, AC distribution board, and other critical elements of the three-electric system. This integrated solution ensures high efficiency and reliability for the vessels' operations.
The entire system is equipped with nine generator sets, each with a power capacity of 350 kW. Grid connection is achieved on the DC-Link via a centralized DC-Link variable frequency drive control system provided by SETH, which drives two 1000 kW main thrust motors to propel the twin propellers. Additionally, these series of ships incorporate a lithium battery system (lithium iron phosphate type) integrated into the DC bus. The battery system has a capacity of 1048 kWh and a maximum discharge power of 450 kW, designed to supply power during berth/port conditions and enhance the dynamic response capability of the power station system. These ships are classed by the China Classification Society (CCS).
