The Norwegian ship owner GAC (Global Auto Carriers AS) has commissioned a series of 4+4 7,000 PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier) dual-fuel vessels. These vessels are financed by GAS, designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), and constructed by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai) Co., Ltd. The first four vessels in the series are scheduled for delivery between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the fourth quarter of 2026. The subsequent four vessels will follow, with the first three expected to be delivered in 2027 and the final one in 2028.
The vessel boasts a total length of 199.9 meters, a width of 38.00 meters, and a deck height of 36.58 meters, with a capacity to carry 7,000 vehicles simultaneously. The series are equipped with SETH's S-shaft in-line PM generator, delivering a shaft power of 1,200 kW. The core frequency converter utilize SETH's proprietary technology with independent intellectual property rights. SETH's S-shaft solutions significantly reduces the marginal fuel costs of the vessel, greatly enhancing its market competitiveness. This innovation aligns with the global trend toward low energy consumption and high environmental standards in shipbuilding.
