Recently, the first vessel of the four 7,000-unit PCTC dual-fuel vehicle carriers, funded by Norwegian new ship owner Global Auto Carriers AS, designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), and constructed by China Merchants Jinling SHIPYARD (Weihai) Co., Ltd — the GLOBAL ACONCAGUA — has been successfully completed and delivered. This vessel marks the first overseas Ro-Ro car carrier project delivered by CSSC SETH. Currently, the remaining three ships are undergoing intensive commissioning and are expected to be delivered soon.

The series of vessels have a length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a design draft of 8.6 meters, and a speed of 19 knots. Equipped with 12 vehicle decks, the ships boast a loading capacity of up to 7,000 household cars. Designed with a green, energy-saving, and environmental friendly philosophy, the vessels are outfitted with an advanced LNG dual-fuel system and a shaft generator system. The shaft generator system features the S-Shaft in-line high-power shaft generator system from SETH, with a shaft generator power of 1,200 kW, and its core variable frequency drive is developed with proprietary intellectual property rights. Notably, the shaft generator technology from SETH significantly reduces the vessel's marginal fuel costs. Combined with multiple environmental technologies onboard, the vessel can meet the International Maritime Organization's TIER III emission standards, greatly enhancing our vessels’ market competitiveness.

To date, CSSC SETH has delivered shaft generator systems for 447 vessels, including 80 for benchmark projects and dozens of retrofit installations. Throughout the execution of these hundreds of orders, SETH has accumulated extensive practical experience and forged a "strong team" in project management.
