In November 2024, CSSC Ship Electric Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "SETH") signed the contract for two 15,000DWT wind-assisted chemical tankers hybrid propulsion system projects, which were being financed by the Swedish ship-owner Terntank and constructed by China Merchants Jinling Dingheng Shipbuilding (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. This marked the third collaboration between China Merchants Jinling Dingheng Shipbuilding (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. and SETH in providing services for the Swedish shipping company Terntank. These vessels are identical to those in the previous batch and represent a new class of ships integrating numerous energy-saving and clean technologies. It was noteworthy that SETH has gained significant recognition from China Merchants Jinling Dingheng Shipbuilding (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. and has successfully collaborated on 16 vessels in the areas of shaft engine and hybrid propulsion system cooperation, including 17,999DWT asphalt tankers, 7,850DWT asphalt tankers, 7,490DWT chemical tankers, and 15,000DWT chemical tankers.
This vessel series measures 147 meters in overall length, with a beam of 22 meters. It boasts a service speed of 14.5 knots, a robust range of 6,600 nautical miles, and is classed by BV. SETH has been entrusted with the production and manufacturing of the advanced hybrid propulsion system and DC-LINK system for this vessel series. Each vessel is equipped with 424kWh batteries, 1,000kW in-line PM generator, frequency load drive, a high-quality daily power supply system, high-voltage shore power access, and an energy management system. The hybrid system, completes with PTO and PTH functions, not only enhances the ship's energy efficiency and environmental friendliness under diverse working conditions but also significantly improves its overall safety.
As the first domestic hybrid power system integrator and core equipment manufacturer to achieve international exports, SETH has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to excellence. While solidifying its presence in the domestic market, the company has methodically advanced its overseas market expansion strategy. To date, the company's international references has achieved 84 vessels, marking a significant milestone in its global journey. Since its initial collaboration with Swedish ship-owner, SETH has successfully extended its services to clients across Singapore, Indonesia, Norway, France, Germany, and Italy. Cumulatively, the company's domestic and international references has exceeded 500 vessels, and completed half of its ambitious a-thousand-ship target. SETH will make substantial contributions to sustainable maritime development through relentless innovation and dedication consistently.
